Career before being justice of the Supreme Court:
Having studied law at the University of Vienna, Elisabeth Lovrek started her judicial career as a judge of the District Court for the Central District of Vienna in 1987. She served as a civil law judge at the Vienna Regional Court and the Vienna Court of Appeals from 1990 to 2002, was appointed to the Supreme Court in 2003 and became Vice President of this court in 2015. In June 2018, she was appointed President of the Supreme Court, taking office on 1 July 2018.
Elisabeth Lovrek has authored numerous publications on civil law and civil procedure and is co-editor of a law journal. She teaches civil procedure at the University of Vienna and is member of several Austrian law societies.
