Biography and career:
Corina Alina Corbu began her first term as the President of the High Court of Cassation and Justice of Romania on 15 September 2019, for a three-year period, continuing, as from 16 September 2022, the development of the projects previously started, which will be further implemented during the second term of office.
President Corbu graduated from Law School at the University of Bucharest in 1995 and subsequently pursued post-graduate studies in private law (1998 -1999). In 2010, she got her PhD at the University of Bucharest on the Thesis Title: "Collective subjects in European Convention of Human Rights".
Her career as a judge started in 1998, when she was appointed as a Trainee Judge at the Court of first instance, Murgeni and in 2000 she was appointed as a Judge at the Court of first instance - District 1 Bucharest. In 2002 she was promoted to the Bucharest Tribunal, 6th Commercial Chamber, where, in 2003 she held her first leading position as the President of 6th Commercial Chamber at the Tribunal of Bucharest. In 2006 she was promoted to the Bucharest Court of Appeal and in 2010 to the High Court of Cassation and Justice, where, prior to her appointment as President of the High Court, she served as President of the Administrative and Tax Litigation Chamber.
The following relevant positions should be mentioned: President of the Commission for ascertainment of the conditions to grant the Romanian citizenship at the Tribunal of Bucharest between 2003–2005, Director of the Superior Council of Magistracy, Directorate of human resources and organization between 2005–2006 Secretary-General of the Superior Council of Magistracy of Romania between 2006–2010.
Throughout her career, Judge Corina Alina Corbu has also carried out numerous academic activities, including the position of Leading professor of Company Law at the Romanian-American University, as well as the position of Trainer for initial training in the area of commercial law and Trainer for continuous training in the area of European Convention of Human Rights at the National Institute of Magistracy.
