Europe of Justice - 50th anniversary of the Treaty of Rome

On January 8, 2007, Mr. Frattini, Vice President of the European Commission, Commissionner in charge of Justice, Freedom and Security, made a speech during the Opening of the Judicial Year in the Court of cassation. Mr de Villepin, Prime minister, Mr. Jean-Louis Debré, President of the National Assembly and Mr. Pascal Clément, minister of Justice attended the event.

Mr Jean-Paul Costa Costa, President of the European Court of Human Rights and Mr. Vassilios Skouris, President of the Court of Justice of the European Communities also attended the ceremony.

Among the Members of the Network, Mrs Iva Brozova, President Of the Supreme Court of the Cszech Republic, Mr. Zoltan Lomnici, President of the Supreme Court of Hungary, Mr. Christos Artemides, President of the Supreme Court of Cyprus, Mrs Pauliine Koskelo, President of the Supreme Court of Finland, The Rt Hon. Sir John Murray, Lord Chief Justice of Ireland, Thr Rt Hon. Sir Antony Clarke, Master of the Rolls, Mr. Lech Paprzycki, President of the Criminal Chamber of the Supreme Court of Poland, Mr. Antonio Henriques Gaspar, Vice President of the Supremo Tribunal de Justiça du Portugal took part in the ceremony.

European Court of Human Rights

The Opening of the Judicial Year at the European Court of Human Rights will take place on January 19, under the presidency of the of Mr. Jean-Paul Costa, President newly elected.

Court of Justice of the European Communities - 50th anniversary of the Treaty of Rome

On March 26, 2007, the Court of Justice organizes a colloquium to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Treaty of Rome. The presidents of the Constitutional courts, of the Supreme judicial and administrative courts are invited to deliver a speech on the subject matter of " The influence of national law and and case law of the courts of the Member States on the interpretation of community law".

Opening of the Judicial Year - Portugal

On January 31, the Opening of the Judicial Year will take place in the Supremo Tribunal de Justiça of Portugal.
